A garden full of illuminated advertising, coal everywhere, pumping music, a choir and above it a swarm of crows. A child enters, introduces itself and starts to dance. Suddenly… Silence: In the back a gigantic sun starts to glow. A door out of paper is pushed open by the child, who said: „If you want to understand the moon, you have to stop watching your finger.“ A lot of Japenese people live in and around Düsseldorf. Most of them grew up in Japan and followed a call for work to come to the other end of the world for one or two years. Others stay and have been here for a long time. In the middle of Düsseldorf, they live in a small Japanese parallel universe. An island itself in the middle of Rhein area, far away from their big island in the pacific sea.

vorschlag:hammer are an independent collective of directors. During their artistic residency at Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, they created a happening.

Something between documentation, a ghost train, a musical and meditation.

They were researching for motives of the island and japan in Düsseldorf. The big installation is a garden, that is as well a real and fictional space. Here a world shall be created, that works for itself and invites the audience: „The Japanese Island is the motive we started from. A real and a fictional place full of figures, signs, images and atmospheres. We don’t want to create a copy but a special world, made from our observations. Here everyone can stay and observe for him/herself. We will built a big garden for us and the audience.“

vorschlag:hammer (Hildesheim/Zürich) blend narrative theatre with performative characterization strategies in their very own distinct style: Kristofer Gudmundsson, Gesine Hohmann and Stephan Stock are the core of vorschlag:hammer, but for every production they extend the group for other artists. vorschlag:hammer is part of the network cobratheater.cobra.

They especially emphasize on the live experience and the uniqueness of every performance. vorschlag:hammer studied cultural sciences and aesthetic practice in Hildesheim, as well as drama in Bern and Zurich. It was founded in 2009 on the occasion of the production „Vom Schlachten des gemästeten Lamms und vom Aufrüsten der Aufrechten“. This performance was shown at numerous festivals in German-speaking Europe and honored with the jury price of Körber Studio Junge Regie at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg. In 2013, „Tears in Heaven“ received the jury price at the Best OFF – Festival Freier Theater Niedersachsen. Between 2012 and 2014 vorschlag:hammer was „Artist in Residence“ at Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf for Doppelpass Theatre Cooperation Fund of Federal Cultural Foundation, where they developed the projects “Stalker“ and “Mori no kokyu“.
